As the Western Hockey League Draft gets underway this week, scouts and fans alike will be turning their attention to one of the most electrifying young prospects to come through the Junior Prospects Hockey League - Liam Pue.

The numbers are staggering. The story, still just beginning.

A Record-Setting Journey

In the 2022–23 season, at just 12 years old, Pue dominated the JPHL’s 14U and 15U divisions with a jaw-dropping 48 goals and 85 points in 35 games. His performance turned heads across the hockey world, not only for the production but for the sheer composure with which he played against older competition.

The following season, 2023–24, saw Pue elevate his game yet again. Now 13, he split time between the 15U and 17U divisions, scoring 72 goals and 118 points in just 37 games. By this point, the "phenom" label was no longer premature - it was earned.

Fast forward to the 2024–25 season. Pue turned 15 in February and played a full season in the JPHL’s 18U division, finishing with 40 goals and 62 points in 35 games. For most players, that stat line would be a career year. For Pue, it’s another chapter.

And the stats only tell part of the story.

Built for the Next Level

Standing at 6’2” and weighing over 160 pounds, Pue is a rare combination of size, speed, and hockey IQ. A natural centerman, he plays with a power-forward’s edge and a sniper’s touch - a profile that has WHL scouts salivating.

Over his three-year JPHL career, Pue scored a total of 160 goals in just 107 games, consistently playing against opponents two to three years older. His development has been accelerated not just by talent, but by environment and time in between games.

“That has been very beneficial for me,” Pue told 4Vengeance Media during a JPHL showcase at the Silent Ice Center. “We don’t play every week, so we have weeks where we just go on development and work on skills. I’ve seen the improvement all season.”

The JPHL’s model of skill development and competitive balance has paid dividends. For Pue, it’s about more than goals and accolades, it’s about the culture.

“Whenever you come to this rink or any showcase weekend, everyone’s like family almost, and you know everybody around.”

Stepping Up When It Matters

When the lights were brightest, Pue delivered. He scored 21 goals in 16 playoff games, including a natural hat trick in Game 1 of the 18U Prospects Cup Championship.

Whether it’s the regular season or the playoffs, Pue brings the same intensity, elite skillset, and team-first mindset. He’s the kind of player who creates highlights and history.

The WHL Awaits

With the WHL Draft set to get in motion Wednesday, the hockey world waits to see where Liam Pue will go. Wherever he lands, fans and media alike can expect a complete package of elite skill, character, and drive.

“You’re welecomed right in, you have a great media crew, sweet videos on social media,” explained Pue about what sets the JPHL apart. “It’s competitive, there are not as many teams as some other leagues, which is nice, as you get a chance to go back at that one time in a week or 2 weeks.”

Liam Pue’s story is still in its early stages. But make no mistake - the prologue is already unforgettable.
