KOOTENAY HOCKEY ACADEMY JOINS JUNIOR PROSPECTS HOCKEY LEAGUE

The Junior Prospects Hockey League (JPHL) is pleased to announce its expansion for the 2023-24 season with the addition of the Kootenay Hockey Academy (KHA) U18 team, operated by the Cranbrook Bucks (BCHL) organization.

The Kootenay Hockey Academy, located in Cranbrook, British Columbia, is a premier hockey development program, committed to providing elite training and education for student-athletes. The addition of the KHA U18 team to the JPHL further strengthens the league’s reputation as a top-tier high school hockey league for aspiring hockey players.

JPHL Commissioner Richard Nault was impressed with the Bucks organization and says, "We are thrilled to welcome the Kootenay Hockey Academy to the Junior Prospects Hockey League. The KHA’s commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the ice is perfectly aligned with the values and goals of our league and we look forward to seeing them in league play this fall."

The KHA team will compete in the JPHL’s U18 Division, which includes teams from across Western Canada. The team will play a showcase-style schedule of games against top-tier opponents, providing players with valuable experience and exposure to advance their hockey careers.

"We are excited to partner with the Junior Prospects Hockey League and offer our players the opportunity to compete at the highest level," said Cranbrook Bucks Owner and Governor, Nathan Lieuwen. "The JPHL is recognized as a top developmental league and we believe our players will benefit greatly from being a part of it."

The addition of the KHA U18 team further expands the JPHL’s reach and impact, providing young players with a clear path to achieve their hockey aspirations. The league is committed to developing the next generation of hockey talent and providing them with the resources and support they need to succeed.
